December 2014 came the announcement that "The Defense Department was debating whether officials will open the SEAL and SWCC ranks to women — and if so, to what degree — in Jan. 2016, DoD spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen confirmed to Navy Times." *SOURCE
We now have the confirmation from Navy Times & Adm. Jon Greenert said "he and the head of Naval Special Warfare Command, Rear Adm. Brian Losey, believe that if women can pass the legendary six-month Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, they should be allowed to serve." another Source
The above book "Down Range" is a really great example of what we can expect to see and I HIGHLY recommend it!!
"Down Range" was written by Lindsay McKenna& Michael Jaco now retired SEAL team Six member as well as:
-UDT-12,
-SEAL TEAMS - 3, 4, 5, & 6
-Naval Special Warfare Development Group
-Naval Special Warfare Training Center (BUD/S/1st Phase)
-Naval Special Warfare Training Center (Advanced Training)
-Naval Special Warfare Unit - 1 (Guam)
and author of "The Intuitive Warrior" --> Get your copy here
It would be fitting to say that "Down Range" picks up where the movie G.I Jane left off. After fighting her way in to a position of equality the lead female in "Down Range" is working with a SEAL on a special mission.
